We think that relaxing, enjoying interesting activities, eating healthy food, and staying in safe wilderness conditions is the most healing way to enjoy a vacation in Finland! After this holiday, you are able to continue your everyday life relaxed and well-balanced.
On this trip, you will see different small wild birds and - if you are lucky - eagles. Golden eagles are living here, so you might see these big birds gliding silently above the white, untouched snowfields. We are going to spend one day on an unforgettable husky sledding tour in the beautiful taiga forest and hills! One of our special skills is to make wonderful meals by open fire. Make your wilderness holiday dreams come true on this tour!

Price includes: Return transport from Oulu Airport to Syöte, activities due to the program, guidance, meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), accommodation in twin rooms in own cabin, sauna and shower every day. (Optional accommodation for one night in a wildlife hide)

Equipment: Participants have their boots, winter clothing, warm underwear, etc., according to the cold weather. Please ask for the whole list of equipment after booking.
Equipment included in the price: Snowshoes, skis, sticks and skiing boots, and all other special equipment needed in the program.
By additional cost: Winter clothing, mittens, headwear, boots, 90 €/set/person/week. Aurora hunting by car 80€ / person. 2 days husky safari with overnight in a remote wilderness cottage.

Tour level: Intermediate. Previous skiing and trekking experience is not required. A moderate physical condition is desirable.

Insurance: We require participants to have their own insurance for skiing and other outdoor activities in Finland and in arctic weather conditions.

ITINERARY

Arrive at Oulu Airport, where you meet your guide. Transport to Taigalampi Holiday House in Syöte hiking area by car. Transport time approximately 2 hours.
Taigalampi Holiday House is a cozy log house in Syöte. House works for us as a base camp for this unforgettable wildlife adventure. There is homemade dinner waiting for us on the table with different local delicacies! Program briefing. To have a nice and safe adventure, we'll have basic info about clothing, accommodation and safety instructions for the week. Evening meal in dining room and accommodation in twin rooms. Sauna, maybe a dip to the fresh snow on a shore of the ice covered lake! Welcome to enjoy your arctic holiday!

Breakfast in dining room, introduction of the area. Making fire to the shore and ice fishing trip with snowshoes to the lake ice. Trip will take us to remote wilderness lake which gives a lot of small fish to silent and calm ice-fishers. Enjoy the sound of silence. Peaceful hiking trip with snowshoes after ice-fishing takes us to the fireplace. Picnic lunch by open fire.
Hiking back to base camp. After relaxing and hot drink you will hear some exciting stories of our area. Photo exhibition in dining hall. Sauna, dinner.

After breakfast we take wide backcountry skis and start the excursion by car to quiet forests and fells. We may find some reindeer tracks, elks, and wolverines and might also see the rare lynx tracks.
Skiing in old forest and on frozen lakes and bogs is really an amazing experience. Here you can feel the real wilderness and quiet nature around you. Lunch during the tour. Skiing back to car and transport Holiday House. Dinner and sauna.

Early breakfast at the base camp. Making a picnic lunch from the breakfast table and after that 2 hours transport to the wildlife hide in Oulanka National Park.
Photographing and wildlife watching from a hide. Opportunities to see huge variety of wild small birds and also eagles. Transport back to the base camp. Sauna, dinner, accommodation.

Breakfast at the base camp. Transport to the husky farm near the Taivalkoski village. The day will be spent with huskies driving and enjoying the white wilderness with your own dog pack!
Safety instructions, driving lesson and couple of hours driving with friendly huskies. Picnic lunch during the tour. Pure fun and joy! Transport back to the base camp. Sauna, dinner, accommodation. Maybe possibility to photograph the magnificent Northern Lights!
