Discover the dramatic beauty of Korouoma Canyon on a guided winter day hike through deep forests, snowy ridges and Finland’s most famous frozen waterfalls.
On this interesting day trip, you will explore Finland in the Posio region of South Lapland. This remote area is absolutely a perfect place to enjoy the extraordinary geological formations from ancient history.
Our guide will lead you safely through the snow-white forests up to the cliffs, along the ridges, and beside the frozen river.
This small‑group adventure offers a perfect blend of peaceful nature, impressive ice formations, and warm moments by the fire. Your local guide leads you safely along the scenic trail, sharing stories about the canyon’s geology, wildlife, and winter ecology while ensuring a relaxed, enjoyable pace for everyone.

Meals: Picnic lunch package with a sandwich, hot berry juice, biscuits
Distance: Approximately 5 km on varied terrain (Distance may vary depending on weather conditions and the capability of the group)
Price includes: Return transport from Posio or Syöte, activity due to the program, spikes, sticks, guidance, transport to the place of activity, sandwich and snacks
The price doesn’t include flights.
Equipment: Participants have their own winter hiking boots, windproof winter clothing, warm underwear, socks, and thermal layer according to the cold weather. Winter clothes can be rented from Nordic Wildscape.

By an additional cost: Winter clothing set 30 €/person/day. Winter clothing set includes winter jacket and trousers, mittens, hat, boots.
Extra nature guide for groups less than twelve persons costs 375 €/day.
Supplements: Aurora hunting by car 125 €/person

Tour level: Intermediate. Participants are required to have good basic fitness.

Insurance: We require participants to have their own insurance for outdoor activities in Finland in winter conditions.
Itinerary: (approximate timetable)
09:00 Pickup & transfer. Guests are picked up from the Posio area. (08:00 from Syöte)
Drive through snowy forests and open fells towards the Korouoma canyon.
09:45 – Arrival & Gear Check
Warm clothing check, spikes, safety briefing, and introduction to the area.
10:00 – Start of the hiking trip
The trail ascends gently through spruce forests heavy with snow, opening into the breathtaking canyon landscapes that Korouoma is famous for.
12:00 – Scenic Break & photography on the ice falls area
A warm drink and snacks are served while enjoying panoramic views over the surrounding.
Your guide shares stories about local nature, winter, geology, and the South Lapland area.
12:30 – Continue the Loop Trail
14. 00 – Return to Trailhead
Short break, gear off, warm drink, and a bun in the local wilderness cafe if desired.
14:30 – Drive Back
Relax on the return journey through Lapland’s winter landscapes.
15:00–16:30 – Drop‑off
Guests are returned to the starting point.
