Illustrate the Village - Storytelling Summer Weekend Workshop

Join a four-day immersive photography and storytelling workshop dedicated to capturing the charm of Finland’s idyllic villages during the vibrant summer season! Tailored for international photographers, this workshop offers an authentic and creative journey into the heart of Finnish culture, landscapes, and community life.

Illustrate the Village - Storytelling Summer Workshop program

What to Expect:

- Thursday: Meet the guide at the Railway Station or the Airport. Transport, arrival, and welcome session with introductions and a presentation on narrative photography. Explore techniques to authentically illustrate village life. Begin with a photo walk, focusing on key architectural features and hidden gems in the local village. End the day with a traditional Finnish dinner.

- Friday: Dive deeper into storytelling with guided sessions on capturing daily life in the village—local people, small farms, and picturesque market scenes. Learn to work with light and movement in photography. Evening session: editing tips and group discussion.

- Saturday: Portrait photography and community storytelling. Engage with residents for candid shots and photo essays that tell personal stories. Later, explore the surrounding nature: lush green fields, summer cottages, houses, river, and lakeshores perfect for adding depth to your village narrative.

- Sunday: Final village exploration and a "Photo Critique Circle." Share your work with fellow participants and receive constructive feedback. Wrap up with a group lunch and an exhibition of selected works from the weekend.

After these rewarding and creativity-enhancing days, you have four to six different yet mutually supportive photographs that form an intriguing collection of your long weekend in Finland. During this journey, you have learned how to narrate an unforgettable visual experience and uniquely present it through your social channels or print it in high-quality formats.

Throughout the workshop, you'll be guided by an experienced professional photographer and locals familiar with the area, ensuring a deep connection with both the craft and the environment.
